HOWELL, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A Michigan lawmaker is praising the efforts of the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department after deputies arrested two suspected sexual predators accused of sending explicit messages to people they thought were minors.

After the arrest, deputies turned the suspects over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) since they are believed to be illegal aliens.

State Representative Jason Woolford (R-Howell), who represents constituents in the Livingston County area, said the arrests highlight hard-working law enforcement officers as well as the danger of the Biden-era’s open border policies.

“It is no exaggeration to call what happened under the previous presidential administration an invasion of our country,” Woolford said. “[The arrests] show that this invasion gives even small communities as far from our border as those in mid-Michigan cause for concern.”

Woolford blasted Democrats who continue to advocate for open borders and illegal aliens taking up residents in Michigan. “The Democrats who advocated for our open border and continue to this day to advocate for sanctuary cities have to answer for why these two dangerous, predatory criminals were ever allowed to live next to our families and be near our children.” Woolford included Gov. Gretchen Whitmer in that group. “As recently as last year, Governor Gretchen Whitmer was using taxpayer dollars to invite illegal immigrants to relocate themselves to Michigan, into our neighborhoods,” he said.

In related news, border patrol agents continue to work on making Michigan’s borders safe. Chief Patrol Agent John R. Morris summarized the work of agents this month, including the numerous arrests of “special interest aliens” from Venezuela.

Morris also said “U.S. Border Patrol & the U.S. Coast Guard are forging a tighter relationship, and nowhere will this pay greater dividends than in the Detroit Sector with its 3,800 miles of shoreline.”
