GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The process of jury selection starts on Monday in the trial of a former Grand Rapids police officer facing second-degree murder charges after he shot and killed a man three years ago.
Christopher Schurr is facing a trial after he stopped a car driven by 26-year-old Patrick Lyoya in April 2022. Lyoya’s plates did not match the vehicle. Their interaction escalated after Schurr said Lyoya resisted arrest and attempted to grab the officer’s taser. Schurr said he feared for his life.
