LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Michigan State and the University of Michigan will represent the state in the 2025 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball March Madness Tournament. Michigan will be a no. 6 seed, while MSU will be a no. 7 seed.

Making their 13th NCAA Tournament, Michigan is in the Birmingham 3 Regional and will take on either no. 11 seed Princeton or Iowa State on Friday at Notre Dame. Michigan has made the NCAA Tournament in seven of the last eight seasons and is 11-12 overall with an Elite Eight appearance in 2022. Michigan enters the tournament with 22 wins, the fifth most in program history, led by All-Big Ten second-team selections Olivia Olson and Syla Swords.

MSU enters the tournament as the no. 7 seed and plays in Spokane (Wash.) Regional taking on no. 10 seed Harvard on Saturday at NC State in Raleigh, N.C. If they win, they will face either no. 2 seed NC State or no. 15 seed Vermont. This is the highest seed for MSU since 2016, when they were the no. 4 seed. With their 20th appearance in the NCAA Tournament, they have played in 17 of the last 22 tournaments. Head coach Robyn Fralick becomes the first-ever MSU women’s basketball coach to make back-to-back appearances in her first two seasons leading the program. MSU is 21-9 entering the tournament and is 5-0 against Ivy League programs.
