WASHINGTON (Michigan News Source) – Democratic U.S. Senator Elissa Slotkin appeared on The View this week and compared America to a teenager whose brain isn’t fully formed yet.
“We’re about to turn 250 years old [and] we’re still pretty young for a country,” Slotkin said, who was elected by Michigan voters to The U.S. Senate in November. “These are our angry teenage years. What do you do when you have a teenager who’s threatening themselves and others. You just try to get them through this period alive so that their brain can fully form.”

Senator Slotkin sat at the table next to cohost Joy Behar, who attempted to bait her with a snarky comment regarding President Donald Trump’s brain. Slotkin responded, “I’m talking about our country. We’re pendulum swinging.”
Fellow Senator Chuck Schumer (D-New York) described Slotkin as “a rising star” last week before her Democratic Response to President Trump’s joint address before Congress. However, rising stars should be expected to show up for votes in the chamber. Last week, Slotkin did not cast a vote for or against the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act. Michigan’s other U.S. Senator Gary Peters voted against it. Neither office has responded to Michigan News Source’s questions about Slotkin’s no-show vote and Peters’ nay vote.
However, Michiganders can weigh in during Senator Slotkin’s telephone town hall on Thursday, March 13 at 6:30 p.m. Slotkin lays out the details in a social media post.
Last week I talked about the importance of elected officials listening to their constituents, this week I am happy to announce that I am hosting my first telephone town hall.
