WASHINGTON (Michigan News Source) – Michigan Congressman Tim Walberg (R) made waves this morning by pushing back against the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) and its “waiting for clarification” stance on President Donald Trump’s executive order which bans men from competing in women’s sports.
The executive order would take away funding from institutions that refuse to comply. Walberg appears to be be in step with the Trump administration, saying the next step is “punishing” the MHSAA.

Congressman Walberg gave that response on The Steve Gruber Show on Friday morning and spoke to guest host Scott Bertram. He posed this question to Walberg:
“The President issued an Executive Order banning trans girls from participating in women’s athletics. The Michigan High School Athletic Association has decided to uphold it’s policy allowing them to take part. So, what happens now? Is their funding perhaps at risk? What’s the next step if the High School Association says we are not going to abide by the Executive Order?”
Walberg responded, “The next step will be enacting a punishment on them. If they want to do it, fine. But the federal revenues that come to them, at the very least for their athletic programs that are co-mingled or used in the athletic programs, I would recommend that they be withdrawn.”
