SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The word is out. President Donald Trump’s administration will deport illegal aliens, and new data from Customs and Border Protection (CBP) shows fewer are showing up at ports of entry.

Fewer illegals are showing up at the border.

The CBP data shows border patrol agents apprehended 61,465 illegal aliens at the southern border during January. President Trump was sworn in on Jan. 20, and he spent the two months between his Nov. 5 election victory and his first day in office getting out the word about his “shock and awe” campaign of deporting “the worst of the worst” when it comes to illegal aliens. January’s numbers show a 36% decline in border apprehensions compared to December 2024.

While the southern border gets much of the national media attention, agents at the northern border are working just as hard to keep U.S. citizens safe.

Border patrol agents in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan have arrested numerous illegal aliens this month, including members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua. On Tuesday, agents near Detroit apprehended an illegal immigrant from Mexico with several aggravated assault charges.

Border agents also arrested a Venezuelan illegal alien who is now facing charges for production and possession of child sexually abusive material.

The actions of the Trump administration and border patrol agents currently lies in stark contrast to the Biden administration’s porous border allowances. It allowed illegal aliens to stay in the country indefinitely living on taxpayer dollars.
