LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Gov. Gretchen Whitmer will have a chance to put her words into action.
Michigan’s Democratic governor, who lost the state’s 15 electoral votes to President Donald Trump in November, has been named to his Council of Governors. After the election, Whitmer did say she would be willing to work with the president in order to help Michiganders.

According to The White House, the Council of Governors is a “bipartisan group of state leaders tasked with strengthening state-federal partnerships on key national security, disaster response, and military coordination issues.” In addition, the council serves as a way for states to work together on “disaster response, National Guard operations, and military integration within the states.”
Other governors named to the council include Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin (R), North Carolina Governor Josh Stein (D), Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R), Georgia Governor Brian Kemp (R), Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry (R), Maryland Governor Wes Moore (D), New York Governor Kathy Hochul (D), Pennsylvania Governor Governor Josh Shapiro (D), and South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster (R).
