LENAWEE COUNTY, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Lenawee County Democratic Party Chairman Bill Swift might want to consider adding “shock jock” to his resume after his Saturday appearance on Talk Back Radio with Doug Spade and Mike Clement.
Instead of clarifying now-deleted Facebook posts that sparked controversy, Swift doubled down, advocating for nothing less than the death penalty for Trump supporters who dare to call Donald J. Trump a “king.”

Swift said that calling Trump a king was “treason” and “Anybody furthering an effort to make anybody a king…and they should be arrested, and they should be facing the death penalty. They should be hanged by the neck until dead. I believe that this is one of the few areas of the law where I believe the death penalty should be imposed. And I stand behind that.”
The radio host, for his part, insisted that Swift’s comments were perfectly legitimate to say and that nobody should “turn you into the Sheriff’s department or ban you or anything” commenting that “you have a right to say that just as much as someone that may totally disagree with you.”
Swift doubles down on Trump-Nazi comparisons and Musk salutes.
Swift’s appearance on the radio show followed Facebook posts which Swift claimed outlined what he called a “very rational argument” that Trump is running Nazi-esque administration and even suggested Elon Musk threw out a couple of Hitler salutes at Trump’s inauguration.
Swift assured radio listeners that this wasn’t some split-second photo taken out of context. According to him, it was a full-on, intentional salute, practically choreographed in a “deliberate, very clear, unambiguous Nazi salute.”
Swift scrubs posts but stands by comparing ICE to Nazis, calls U.S. a fascist oligarchy.
Swift said his party only removed the Facebook posts because “we got some concerned comments from folks that said, the folks that are commenting on your page there might do violence to people in our community.” Even though he took down the posts, he said, “We at the party, and I, as an individual, absolutely 100% support the statements that we made.”
The posts were about the inauguration ceremony and also reports of ICE operating in his county and that they were operating as Nazi collaborators.” He went on to say, “We are no longer a constitutional republic. We are a fascist Nazi billionaire oligarchy.”

Swift accused Trump of using Nazi imagery and language during his campaign and called Trump’s inauguration a “Nazi rally.”
Swift won’t allow a Nazi regime in the U.S.
Swift told the radio hosts this is the final chance for those who have chosen to embrace, excuse, or overlook what he called a Nazi takeover of the country. He declared, “It’s now incumbent upon us, the people, to decide what we’re going to allow in our country, and I’m not gonna allow a Nazi regime in the United States.”
He closed his rant on the radio show by calling for the death penalty of Trump supporters if they treasonously support him being the “king.”
Swift: no respect for Trump supporters.
After Swift’s appearance on the radio show, he posted on his “Bill Swift for Lenawee” Facebook page saying, “If anyone is unclear on the change in tone coming out of this pie hole just understand that I’m kind of not that interested in educating, informing, or otherwise reaching out to the folks that see billionaire Nazi salutes at the insurrectionist’s Inaugural celebration and makes excuses or post still pictures of Democrats caught waving. The facts are the fascist facts. You are what you support and uphold. You support and uphold the President and the GOP party that openly put Nazism on display and cheered that Nazism at the heart and center of our Republic. You have made your stand. You stand with Nazis. We don’t owe you respect. We don’t owe you explanations. We hold these truths to be self evident.”
Swift calls for grassroots “action” Against MAGA Nazi movement.
Swift goes on to say, “To the peeps out there trying to find emotional shelter in this storm of radical right-wing Republican terrorism…please know that people in our community are mobilizing for action. You can be a part of that…anyone who rejects the hate and terrorism of this Nazi MAGA movement can be.”
Swift explains the plan by saying, “It isn’t going to happen here though. Not on Facebook. Not on Twitter. Not on Reddit. Talk to your friends about this stuff. Use encrypted messaging apps like Signal. Get to know your neighbors face-to-face. Identify safe allies. Set attainable goals. Make a plan of action. Identify best fit roles. Get to the real work. Helping the victims of the cruel and brutal folks running this country is where we should direct our immediate efforts. This is a 100% grass root thing. No leadership is gonna fall out of the sky and fix things for us. That’s clear, if anything is. You see how these Democratic Party folks we elected to fight to defend the Republic repeatedly fold like cheap suites at the barest hint of pressure from the right-wing thugs and billionaires.”
In the end, Bill Swift’s radical rhetoric about Trump supporters, which borders on incitement, raises serious concerns about political discourse in Michigan. While Swift remains unwavering in his call for “action” and a firm stance against what he deems a fascist threat, his comments risk further dividing an already polarized electorate in Lenawee county – and beyond.
