LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – There was a time at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic when Michigan’s newspapers would report on a daily basis how many people contracted the disease.
If there was an official day that COVID-19 stopped being part of the daily consciousness of state residents, it may be April 14, 2024.

That’s the final day a resident can track all the information the state of Michigan made available on its website during the height of the pandemic.
The MI Safe Start Map stopped tracking COVID-19 information such as the number of cases, deaths and hospital admissions on April 14, 2024.
The state of Michigan also stopped updating the availability of hospital beds on its website at about the same time. The state’s data on hospitals was discontinued on April 30, 2024, “following the expiration of the federal mandate requiring hospitals to report these data.”
WorldoMeter, the website that many used to track COVID-19 data, also discontinued tracking information as of April 13, 2024.
” … the Coronavirus Tracker is no longer being updated due to the unfeasibility of providing statistically valid global totals, as the majority of countries have now stopped reporting,” the website reported.
If anyone wanted to know how many COVID-19 cases the state reported on any particular day, they are directed to go data-mining on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website.
