LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Discount chain Big Lots, which filed for bankruptcy protection in September, reached a deal that will keep hundreds of its stores and distribution centers open.
Big Lots said Friday that Gordon Brothers Retail Partners is buying the retailer. It will acquire an upwards of 400 Big Lots stores and operate them under the Big Lots brand. Variety Wholesalers will also acquire up to two distribution centers.
It’s been a whiplash of a week where Big Lots is concerned. It announced on Dec. 20 that its deal with Nexus Capital Management fell through. That prompted a going-out-of-business sale at 869 U.S. locations.
