DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Overcoming many factors in the 2024 season, the Detroit Lions won a franchise record 13th game, taking down the Chicago Bears, 34-17. Jared Goff threw for three touchdowns and 336 yards, while Jameson Williams produced a career-high 143 yards receiving. Jahmyr Gibbs, filling in for the injured Montgomery, stepped up for 109 yards rushing and one touchdown.

The 13 wins break the record from the 1991 and 2023 teams of 12 wins. They also set a single-season record for scoring at 493 points. They are now 7-0 on the road, setting a new record for road wins.

“This is when your eyes get opened, when competition is at it’s highest, people are breathing down your neck or you’re chasing somebody and you’re at the top. It doesn’t get any better than this. This is what it’s all about,” said Lions head coach Dan Campbell.

Detroit opened up with a 20-0 lead and scored on their first five possessions for a 27-7 lead. At the half, Chicago was within 13, 27-14, but Detroit’s defense only allowed three points in the second half. Brian Branch had 12 tackles, 10 were solo, and the defense had two sacks.

Goff said, “We know the circumstances that we’re in, and obviously Washington winning, that does do something for playoffs, but we still have to win these games, and we know that. It doesn’t change what we had to do anyways. Yeah, we’ve got to win, and San Francisco is next.”

Detroit heads to San Francisco next Monday night for a rematch of last year’s NFC Championship game.
