ANN ARBOR, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The University of Michigan had had a 28% increase in tuition since the pandemic, according to its recently released annual report.

Total tuition has increased from $1.81 billion in 2019 to $2.31 billion in 2024.

The university’s net increase in tuition has increased from $1.36 billion in 2019 to $1.70 billion in 2024. The net increase is defined as the gross amount of tuition and fees not including financial aid, tuition waivers or discounts and medical student tuition and fees. Net tuition is the amount of money available to pay for instruction related operations.

State appropriations have increased 12% from 2019 to 2024, rising from $370.4 million to $416.5 million.

The University of Michigan reported a record total enrollment of 52,855 in the fall of 2024.
