EAST LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A four-goal rally in the third period gave Michigan State a 5-3 come-from-behind win over no. 1 Minnesota in Minneapolis on Saturday night. Isaac Howard collected two goals as Maxim Strbak produced the game-tying goal and assisted the game-winner. Charlie Stramel put the game-winner in at 6:01, and then an empty net goal made it 5-3. It is the first win over Minnesota since 2020.

MSU improved to 7-0 on Saturdays this year and collected the program’s 19th win vs. the Gophers as they move to 13-2-1 and 6-1-1 in the Big Ten.

Down 2-1 entering the third period, Minnesota extended their lead to two goals just three minutes in. That was the last goal for the Gophers. Howard found the net for the second time in the game after his first goal in the second period for a 1-0 lead. His goal in the third at 11:08 from Strback cut the lead to one, 3-2. Almost two minutes later, Strback tied the game at three with an assist from Karsen Dorwart. Stramel put go-ahead goal in at 13:59, and Red Savage recorded the empty net goal at 19:24.

MSU is off until December 29 when they will face Northern Michigan at 7:00 p.m. in Grand Rapids at the Great Lakes Invitational.
