KALAMAZOO, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Firefighters responding to a rollover crash alongside I-94 in Kalamazoo County narrowly escaped injury after slippery conditions caused another vehicle to crash into their truck.

While working the original crash near mile marker 80 on Thursday, Dec. 12, a 24-foot box truck struck three Comstock Fire Department vehicles and a sheriff’s office cruiser before rolling over and coming to rest.
No first responders were injured; the box truck driver suffered minor injuries and went to a hospital for treatment. It’s not known if the driver will face charges.
Law enforcement reminds everyone to slow down during icy, snowy conditions. Michigan’s Move Over Law, passed in 2019, requires motorists to slow down to at least 10 miles per hour below the speed limit and move over to the other lane when first responders are on the side of the road with emergency lights on. Violators could receive two points on their license and a $400 fine for violating the law.
