DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – On Thursday Night Football, the Detroit Lions showed the world why they are the best in the NFL by winning a franchise-best 11th straight game, holding off the Green Bay Packers, 34-31. Jake Bates nailed a 35-yard field goal as time clicked off the clock, giving the Lions their 12th win of the year.

“I’m so proud of you. That’s the way to show up. You talk about pressure, we live in pressure. That’s how we thrive. We did it again. It doesn’t matter who is playing for us. It doesn’t matter what is going on. You always find a way to win. This has been in the making, men. We are all suppose to be here together. We are destined with this. Just stay the course,” said Lions head coach Dan Campbell in the locker room after the game on Amazon Prime.

With 13 defensive players on the reserve or injured list, Detroit’s defense had their hands full with a potent Packers offense. This week, Detroit added three players from different NFL practice squads to the team and elevated Jamal Adams to the active roster on Thursday afternoon.

As time was winding down in the fourth quarter, the defense came through, stopping Green Bay in the red zone and holding to a field goal that tied the game at 31. For the game, the defense held the Packers almost 40 yards shy of their passing average of 199 yards and just over 80 yards short of their total yards of offense of 298.

“I just love the fact that we find a way. We weren’t buying any narrative going into the game. We don’t need to talk about being as we live it,” Campbell said at the post game presser.

Jared Goff threw for three touchdowns and 283 yards, going 32-of-41, and at one point completed 12 straight passes in the game. Tim Patrick had two receiving touchdowns, and Jahmyr Gibbs had one, while David Montgomery rushed for one.

Patrick caught a one-yard pass on third and goal with 8:39 left in the game for a 31-28 lead. The defense held firm on the Packers’ last drive, as Green Bay was on the Lions’ six-yard line with a second and goal. After an offensive pass interference, a new second down came from the 16-yard line, as the defense forced an incomplete pass and a two-yard gain, setting up the tying field goal.

Starting at the 30-yard line with 3:38 left in the game, Goff and the offense drove to the 17-yard line, leaving two seconds on the clock. He was 6-of-6 on the drive with a key fourth-and-inches handoff to Montgomery as he fell to the ground, keeping the drive alive with 43 seconds left. The gamble by Campbell paid off as he ran the clock down for the game-winning field goal.
