DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Becoming a member of the MLB’s players’ union leadership, Tarik Skubal will play a key role in players’ leadership in the upcoming year. The 2024 American League Cy Young award winner was elected to a two-year term on Wednesday and is one of eight players on the MLB Players Association executive subcommittee.

Skubal is one of six newcomers, as one player from each of the 30 teams voted on the leadership position. He was given one of the two alternate pension committee representatives with Baltimore’s Cedric Mullins. Joining Skubal as new members on the committee are Toronto’s Chris Bassitt, San Diego’s Jake Cronenworth, Pittsburgh’s Paul Skenes, and Tampa Bay’s Pete Fairbanks. Texas Rangers Marcus Semien and Cincinnati’s Brent Suter are returning to the committee.
