LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Two sources familiar with the ongoing discussions at Mar-a-Lago tell Michigan News Source that Michigan GOP Chair Pete Hoekstra is on a short list for U.S. Transportation Secretary.
In addition, former U.S. Department of Education secretary Betsy DeVos is also under consideration for a position in President-elect Donald Trump’s administration, but hers come with strings attached, as reported by The Detroit News.

DeVos previously said she would serve “with the goal of phasing out the Department of Education as we tried to do through budgetary process in the first administration,” DeVos said in August.
DeVos and her family are long-time players in Michigan politics.
Hoekstra, a Holland native, served in the U.S. House from 1993 to 2011. He chaired the House Intelligence Committee. He served as Ambassador to the Netherlands under the previous Trump administration.
Mar-a-Lago is the Florida base where Trump runs his political operations currently.
