BAD AXE, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Huron County officials rescued two duck hunters on Thursday after their boat took on water.

The Huron County Sheriff’s Office added the boat two miles offshore of Bay Port was submerged but was still “somewhat floating.”

Both men had life jackets, and one of them tried to swim to shore. The other man stayed with the boat and tried to make it back.

Firefighters used an airboat to save the hunters. Both men were taken to shore safely.

The 64-year-old man from Fenton and a 31-year-old man from Kalamazoo received a medical evaluation but refused further treatment.
