LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Another Michigan turkey has been pardoned just in time for Thanksgiving.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer pardoned “Aiden Cluckinson” who will spend the rest of his life at the Saginaw Children’s Zoo. The name stems from a contest where Michiganders submitted more than 4,000 names for consideration. Whitmer said Valentina, a young Michigander from South Lyon, submitted this year’s winning name. Other suggestions included “Gobbletron” and “Cran-Berry Sanders.”

“This year’s winning name is Aidan Cluckinson, which was one of hundreds of submissions based on our beloved Detroit Lions,” Gov. Whitmer said on Thursday. “This Thanksgiving, I hope everyone enjoys time with loved ones, finds a way to give back to the community, and keeps on cheering for our Lions.”
Last year, Gov. Whitmer pardoned Dolly Pardon. Judges selected that name from more than 3,900 entries in the statewide contest. In 2022, Mitch E. Gander received the honor.
Speaking of the Detroit Lions, the team will host the Chicago Bears on Thursday, Nov. 28 with a kickoff time of 12:30 p.m.
