DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Michigan State Police say a 53-year-old road worker struck by a car along I-75 in Southwest Detroit on Wednesday afternoon has died.

Officials say it happened around 1:40 p.m. on southbound I-75 near Springwells. A moving road crew was setting a flare pattern between construction vehicles in the right lane when the vehicle, driven by a 71-year-old driver from Allen Park, struck the worker.

The road worker later died at a hospital. The investigation is ongoing.
