SCHOOLCRAFT, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Andelyn Simkins, from Schoolcraft, Mich., put together another strong week of play for the Western Michigan volleyball team, earning her third MAC Defensive Player of the Week award. She is the reigning MAC Defensive Player of the Year and was a VolleyballMag.com All-American.
In straight-set wins over Toledo, she averaged 7.17 digs per set with 43 digs and a .929 reception percentage. In the first match on Friday, she posted 25 digs and then added 18 on Saturday as the WMU defense held Toledo to just a .073 hitting percentage.

She currently ranks third in the MAC and 30th in the NCAA with 4.82 digs per set, while WMU is 20th in the nation with 16.96.
WMU is 14-11 and 10-4 in the MAC, and it will face Miami (Ohio) in Kalamazoo on Friday and Saturday.
