LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – As the presidential campaigns wind down, an exclusive Michigan News Source and Mitchell Research and Communications poll shows Vice President Kamala Harris (50%) has taken the lead over former President Donald Trump (48%) in Michigan.

“As the last week before the election went on, Harris and [Rep. Elissa] Slotkin came on stronger,” said Steve Mitchell with Mitchell Research and Communications.  “The Democratic issue ‘threats to democracy’ (34%) became the major issue and ‘abortion’ (13%) popped into double digits.”

The poll was conducted Oct. 29-Nov.2. The margin of error is +/-4.04%.

Meanwhile, Mitchell explained that “the ‘economy/inflation’ (24%) and ‘border/immigration’ (21%) receded for the first time, signaling the Democratic messaging was working better than the Republican [messaging],” Mitchell said.

In the U.S. Senate race, Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin (D) has moved ahead of former GOP Congressman Mike Rogers (50% -48%). Just days ago, polling showed Rogers ahead by 3-5%.

As of Sunday night, Michigan’s voting dashboard showed that 41% of the state’s 7.2 million eligible voters had cast a ballot.
