SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The Soo Locks Visitor Center in Canal Park will close for the season at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31 for the 2024 season.

Visitor Center hours for the remainder of October are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. The park is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Canal Park welcomed more than  275,000 visitors from May 1 to Oct. 1. In addition, roughly 216,000 people stopped by the Visitor Center to get boat schedules, ask questions, and check out exhibits.

Park rangers led walking tours, ranger talks, and other special activities for nearly 600 visitors. Data indicates that 1,264 children and 596 adults took water safety pledges and received water safety goody bags.

The Visitor Center will reopen May 1 for the 2025 season.
