DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Using their Detroit grittiness, the Red Wings took a 5-3 battler over the New Jersey Devils, moving to 4-3 on the year. After starting the season 1-3, Detroit has reeled off wins over Nashville, 5-2, New York, 1-0, and now New Jersey.
Alex DeBrincat said after the game, “We’ve been struggling a bit, so to see it (puck) go into the net a couple of times is huge for us. I think we can keep that going, and hopefully win some more games.”

Tied at three with nine minutes to go in the game, Detroit scored two goals in the final four minutes for the win. Patrick Kane scored on a power play at 16:28 for the go-ahead goal, 4-3, and Michael Rasmussen hit an open net goal for the two-goal win, 5-3.
“This was a huge win for us. We’ve had some success here with 11 (forwards) and seven (defensemen). You can get some rhythm with it and kind of mix up some matchups. It’s tough on the other coach at times, but it’s good when you have your top-two centers. I never felt comfortable with the flow all night, but I give our guys credit in that they used that emotion and battled,” said head coach Derek Lalonde.
Captain Dylan Larkin follows, saying, “We stuck together and didn’t quit. That was the main part about tonight.”
Now in second place in the Atlantic Division, Detroit travels to Buffalo on Saturday for a noon game on ESPN+.
