GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – About 100 Northwest Grand Rapids area voters have been checking their mailboxes anticipating their absentee ballots, but have not yet received them.

Grand Rapids City Clerk John Hondorp says he sent out 32,000 absentee ballots on Sept. 26. However, he said it’s common for some ballots to get lost because there are a lot of moving pieces at the United States Postal Service (USPS).

Those 100 voters called the clerk’s office looking for their ballots and new ones are on the way.  The missing ballots will be spoiled, according to Hondorp.

Hondorp said the best way for all voters to keep track of their absentee ballots is to look on the state’s voting website. Voters can track when the ballot was sent and if it was returned.

This isn’t the first ballot snafu this election cycle. Officials in Ingham County contend a human error caused 97 voters to receive the wrong absentee ballot, and the correct ones are in the mail.

The Lansing Township Clerk’s office mailed replacement ballots to those 97 voters in the 2nd precinct. They had mistakenly received 3rd precinct ballots.
