BATH, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the former Democrat-turned-Independent presidential candidate, spent time in Michigan on Thursday night discussing a plethora of issues, including political parties, censorship, and the war in Ukraine.

The town hall.

Kennedy sat down with Real America’s Voice commentator Steve Gruber for a live town hall at the Eagle Eye Golf Club in Bath. He recalled the Democrat party of his father and uncle, President John F. Kennedy, and mentioned the about-face it’s taken in recent years.

“The Democrat party I grew up with was the party fighting to make sure everyone could vote for the candidate of their choice,” Kennedy told the crowd. “For some reason, the Democrats have walked away from that.”

Kennedy mentioned the court battles in several states he’s faced since suspending his campaign last month and supporting former President Donald Trump, including here in Michigan. He’s gone several rounds with Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson over having his name removed from the ballot since he suspended his campaign. Ultimately, the courts sided with Benson and Kennedy’s name will remain on the Nov. 5 ballot. Many have criticized her actions as partisan.

Michigan’s election season is underway.

In addition, Kennedy addressed “election season” as absentee ballots started being mailed in Michigan starting on Thursday.

“Mail in ballots are not a good idea,” Kennedy said.

In addition, he said that a good portion of Democratic voters live in large cities where a driver’s license is not needed because of public transportation. “The Democrats have always said when you require ID [to vote] you disenfranchise millions of our voters.” Kennedy went on to offer a solution: “I suggest the federal government order the post office and the state department to issue passport cards to every American who can’t afford them. Anyone with proof of ID would get it.”

Kennedy’s thoughts on President Joe Biden.

Gruber asked Kennedy, “What’s the first thing comes to mind when I mention Joe Biden?” Kennedy responded graciously, saying “I don’t want to be rude” since he mentioned he’s had tremendous affection for Biden over the past 40 years. With that, he did say, “I don’t think [Biden] was running the White House.”
