LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A Mexican national, whom officials removed from the U.S. twice before, has pending homicide charges in Michigan.

In addition, Alfonso Guzman Intzin waived his right to a hearing on a separate illegal entry charge in El Paso, Texas. Border Patrol Chief Jason Owens referred to Guzman Intzin as a convicted felon. The agent said Guzman Intzin’s Sept. 13 arrest stemmed from the disruption of a smuggling operation by the Texas Department of Public Safety troopers and Border Patrol agents. The arrest occurred less than one mile from the Rio Grande and the U.S.-Mexico border.

Border officials said a further investigation revealed Guzman Intzin has a pending homicide charge in Lansing. He failed to appear in court and an arrest warrant was issued in July.

A U.S. magistrate ordered Guzman Intzin detained without bond and set a detention hearing for Wednesday on charges of illegal reentry after deportation. It is unclear on whether Guzman will be extradited to face the homicide and failure to appear charges in Michigan.
