GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A 25-year-old illegal alien pleaded guilty to murdering his West Michigan girlfriend in March.
Brandon Ortiz-Vite, a native of Mexico, accepted a plea deal on Monday. He pleaded guilty to second-degree murder of 25-year-old Ruby Garcia. In addition, he pleaded guilty to felony firearm charges and the carrying a concealed weapon, all of which stem from Ruby Garcia’s death, according to Kent County Circuit Court Judge Mark A. Trusock.

In exchange, the Kent County Prosecutor’s Office will not charge Ortiz-Vite with first-degree murder. The couple had been arguing about their relationship when Ortiz-Vite shot Garcia, then dumped her body along US-131.
Ortiz-Vite will be sentenced on Oct. 31.
