MASON, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Dart Container has eliminated around 250 corporate positions at facilities worldwide, which includes 160 jobs at its Mason headquarters in Ingham County.
Dart makes food packaging products like paper and plastic cups, plates, lids, and cutlery; officials said the cuts represent about 2 percent of the company’s 13,000 employees. Most of those employees received notification on Friday. Dart officials said the company is offering severance and helping laid off employees manage health care plans.

The company says the package industry has somewhat stagnated following the COVID-19 government shutdowns. In addition, Dart is experiencing the ripple effect of inflation as its relates to its customers.
It’s not the first time the company has reduced its size. The company let 6 percent of its workforce go in February 2020, including 65 people from its Mason headquarters.
