DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Sweeping the Kansas City Royals, Detroit is now just a half-game back in the AL Wild Card spot. In an exciting three-game series, Detroit won 7-6 on Monday, followed by a 3-1 win on Tuesday and a 4-2 victory on Wednesday. Those wins followed a 4-2 win over Baltimore on Sunday to bring the streak to four straight games and eight out of their last 10 games.
Manager A.J. Hinch said after Tuesday’s win over Kansas City, “Pitching and defense, it goes together, and we hung in in some really difficult situations. It has been an ‘all hands on deck’ situation, and they (the team) have all responded.”
