ANN ARBOR, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A dismal start throwing the ball led to a game change for the no. 17 Michigan as they won their second game of the year with a 28-18 win over Arkansas State. A slow start from quarterback Davis Warren led to an offensive change up and more running. Kalel Mullings came through with 15 rushes for 153 yards and two touchdowns.

Warren threw three interceptions and Alex Orji was the change that took place. He threw just four passes but one was for a touchdown. Michigan’s first three touchdowns came on the ground with two from Mullings and one from Donovan Edwards. He finished the day with 82 yards on 17 carries.

Head coach Sherrone Moore said about the change at quarterback, “Put the ball in harm’s way too many times and we made change. This wasn’t great stuff to put on film.”

Mullings had the first score from 30-yards out with 2:23 to go in the first quarter. After ASU hit a field goal at the beginning of the second quarter, 7-3, Michigan responded with two more rushing touchdowns. Edwards recorded a seven-yard run at 6:41 and then Mullings had a five-yard run with 2:57 left for a 21-3 lead at the half.

Orji found Hogan Hansen from nine-yards out for the only passing touchdown of the day at the 12:49 mark in the third quarter making it 28-3. ASU then scored two touchdowns in the final six minutes for a 10-point ball game, 28-18.
