LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A criminal investigation into state Rep. Neil Friske (R-Charlevoix) is now in the hands of Attorney General Dana Nessel after the Ingham County Prosecutor John Dewane recommended the referral.

Dewane cited “potential crimes in multiple county jurisdictions” as the reason for the referral.

Friske was arrested in the early morning hours of June 20 in Lansing after police responded to a report that a man had a gun and shots had possibly been fired. Friske was released the next day without charges.

Dewane told Lansing police officers to continue their investigation after a report suggested sexual assault charges.
