GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A plea deal has been offered to a 25-year-old man illegally in the U.S. who is accused of murdering his girlfriend, Ruby Garcia.
Kent County Assistant County Prosecutor Lori Latham said if Brandon Ortiz-Vite accepts the deal, he could spend a recommended sentence of 30-37 years in prison on charges of second-degree murder, carjacking, carrying a concealed weapon and felony firearm. He is a citizen of Mexico.

Ortiz-Vite would also serve an additional two years for the firearm charge. Previously, a judge found there was enough evidence to send the 25-year-old to trial on the charges stemming from Garcia’s March 22 death.
Garcia and Ortiz-Vite had dated and were reportedly discussing their relationship when the shooting took place.
