LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – There’s less than two months to go before the November election, and two debates are on the books that are significant to Michiganders.

The presidential race.

First, Vice President Kamala Harris (D) and former President Donald Trump (R) will take the debate stage on Tuesday night. It airs at 9:00 p.m. and is hosted by ABC.

It will be interesting to see how both Harris and Trump tie their answers to Michigan, since both campaigns have  been visiting the state in recent days. Michigan is predicted to be a key battleground state.

Michigan’s U.S. Senate race.

In addition, Michigan U.S. Senate candidates Elissa Slotkin (D) and Mike Rogers (R) have both accepted an invitation to debate at WXYZ-TV in October.

The 48-year-old Slotkin is currently the U.S. Representative for Michigan’s 7th District. That includes Ingham, Livingston, Shiawassee and Clinton counties, plus parts of Eaton, Genesee and Oakland counties. She’s a former CIA agent. Rogers, 61, was elected to Congress for Michigan’s 8th District from 2001 to 2015 and served as a Michigan State senator. He’s a former FBI agent.

Interesting development in that race include Slotkin’s recent flip-flop on the Gotion megasite in Big Rapids. She previously signed a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) connected to the Chinese-backed project, but on Friday said she does not support it. Rogers has pushed back on Slotkin’s view of Gotion during his campaign.
