EAST LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Michigan State University’s leadership is in a holding pattern.
Six months after the MSU Board of Trustees asked Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to remove Trustees Rema Vassar and Dennis Denno, the governor remain mum on any decision. Her office said she is still reviewing the request.

MSU is a public university whose Board of Trustees is voted on by Michiganders, so the governor must weigh in. The University of Michigan and Wayne State University are the two other schools whose governing bodies are elected by voters.
The original request from the Board of Trustees came in March after a report by a law firm revealed Vassar and Denno had bullied other MSU officials and acted outside their roles. The findings recommended a removal request.
Vassar and Denno have maintained the investigation, funded by MSU, was misleading and incomplete.
