POTTERVILLE, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Former President Donald Trump spoke at Alro Steel on Thursday afternoon which proved to be the perfect backdrop for one of his speech themes: the state of the economy under President Joe Biden’s administration.
Trump spoke for more than an hour, saying he had a “simple message for the American auto worker,” which is well represented in the state of Michigan. “Your long economic nightmare will soon be over,” Trump said.

The common theme of inflation and disappearing jobs also came from other speakers, like GOP Senate candidate Mike Rogers and former state Rep. Tom Barrett, who is running to replace Democratic Rep. Elissa Slotkin in Michigan’s 7th Congressional district. Slotkin is running against Rogers for Michigan’s open senate seat.
Trump also blasted the open border under Vice President Kamala Harris. She’s spent the last three years as the “Border Czar” without visiting the border.
In Michigan where Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s “Fight Like Hell” mantra rings out for unrestricted abortions, Trump poised himself as the family candidate.
“I’m announcing today in a major statement that under the Trump administration, your government will pay for — or your insurance company will be mandated to pay for — all costs associated with IVF treatment,” he said.
Democrats are continuing to attack Trump over the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling to strike down Roe v. Wade in 2022. That decision returned abortion regulations to the states. In a recent television ad push for Harris, she falsely claims Trump will sign a national abortion ban if elected.
Next week, Harris will visit Detroit on Labor Day. President Joe Biden will also end his two week vacation to visit the state as well.
