BROOKLYN, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Tyler Reddick won his second NASCAR race of the year in a second overtime start to claim the 2024 FireKeepers Casino 400 at the Michigan International Speedway. He pulled away from William Byron in the second restart and won by .168-seconds.

An emotional Reddick said after the win, “I can’t help but sit here in victory lane and think of Scott Bloomquist – huge mentor to me, and an incredible role model and legend of dirt racing and motor sports. The last couple of days have been tough. This really helps it. This win should go for him, his family, and friends.”

Bloomquist, a late model dirt racing icon, passed away earlier in the week from a plane crash near his home in Mooresburg, Tenn. Reddick grew up racing on dirt learning the late Bloomquist. He says, “I learned so much about race cars with him. He taught me a lot about being a racer and a lot of things outside of racing and just in life.”

Out in front in the first restart, the race went to a second overtime after Ross Castain crashed bringing out the yellow flag. William Byron took the lead in the second restart but Reddick found a way to take the lead holding onto the win.

The win is Reddick’s second of the year and seventh of his career as he moves into the top sport of the Cup Standings moving past Kyle Larson.
