OWOSSO, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – “A legacy of resilience and service” is what 106-year-old World War II veteran Irene Hosking is leaving behind.
Mid-Michigan Honor Flight officials say Hosking died at her home in Owosso on Sunday.

Hosking served in Australia during the war and met another 106-year-old World War II veteran last May. The two talked for hours, discovering they were born ten days apart in April 1918. Hosking had been scheduled to be on the Mid-Michigan Honor Flight to Washington, DC in May, but wasn’t feeling well enough to make the trip.
Her obituary detailed her life as a faithful servant, whether that involved church, working at the hospital, or first female commander of the VFW Post 4005.
Hosking’s memorial service is scheduled for Saturday.
