DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – As the NBA Draft comes up on June 26-27, the Detroit Pistons will be picking a future player without a head coach. Monty Williams was fired on June 19 by new President of Basketball Operations Trajan Langdon with no replacement in mind. ESPN sources say that it was directed from the ownership level of Tom Gores to make that move owing Williams $65 million dollars.
Before Williams was fired, though, the Pistons hired Fred Vinson who was a prominent assistant coach with the New Orleans Pelicans to come on staff. After Williams was let go, Vinson has stayed on staff and will most likely be the top assistant next season.

There have been names thrown around for the next head coach in former Cleveland head coach J.B. Bicerstaff and assistant coaches Sean Sweeney and Micah Nori.
As the draft approaches, the mock drafts have the Pistons taking NBA G League Ignite win Matas Buzelis. Buzelis is a five-star recruit out of high school that skipped the NCAA path to play in the NBA. He is only 19 years old and in one season with Ignite he averaged 14 points per game shooting 45 percent from the floor. The other two players that Detroit are looking at are Ja’Kobe Walter from Baylor and Tidjane Salaun from Cholet, France.
The future for Detroit is still uncertain of what my come, but the Pistons will still be young no matter what.
