WATERFORD, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The Waterford School District hired a former Oxford High School principal who worked for the district during the 2021 mass shooting at the school which claimed four student lives and injured seven others.

The school board approved Steven Wolf’s hiring as assistant superintendent in a 4-3 vote on June 13. Several parents expressed concerns, and urged the district to avoid hiring the person they said didn’t do enough to prevent the shooting.

On November 30, 2021, the shooter and his parents met with school administration to discuss his disturbing behavior. The administration suggested the parents take the boy home for the day but they refused.

The gun the shooter used in the murders was in the backpack during that meeting.

The Waterford School District is standing by its decision to make Wolf their new assistant superintendent for grades 6-12.
