ANN ARBOR, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Former 2023 Michigan Gatorade Softball Player of the Year Reganne Bennett is coming back home to play in 2025. Bennett, who played her freshman year at the University of South Carolina in the SEC, announced on Tuesday via social media that she is “going home.”

On her x.com account, Bennett posted, “I’m so excited to announce that I will be continuing my athletic and academic career at the University of Michigan. I’m so grateful for the coaching staff for giving me this opportunity and for my family supporting me along the way. Go Blue!”

Bennett played this past season for the Gamecocks starting 13 games with 23 games played and a .268 batting average. She posted 12 RBI on three doubles and four home runs. In the circle, she went 4-0 with a 0.86 ERA in nine appearances and six games started recording 21 strikeouts. USC went 36-24 on the year and 8-16 in the SEC making the NCAA Tournament.

USC didn’t renew the contract of head coach Beverly Smith in a June 8 Gamecocksonline story and hired a new coach on June 11 in Ashley Chastain.

Michigan won the 2024 Big Ten Championship and were the NCAA Regional runners-up finishing at 43-18. Bennett joins six high school recruits for the incoming class and is the lone portal transfer.
