MEARS, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A 12-year-old Petoskey boy is recovering after being buried in a sand dune at Silver Lake State Park on Sunday evening.

Deputies say the incident happened at a family gathering. The 12-year-old boy and his 8-year-old brother were outside playing when they began digging in the sand dune. The hole collapsed on the boy when he was five feet deep.

He was eventually pulled out of the hole after being buried for about 14 minutes.
