MARQUETTE, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – First Lady Jill Biden will be visiting Michigan this week as part of the Biden-Harris campaign’s efforts to support her husband’s reelection bid. Her visit comes just days before President Joe Biden’s third campaign trip to the state this year.
Jill Biden’s itinerary includes several stops across Michigan, beginning with a Women for Biden-Harris event in Marquette on May 16. She will be accompanied by second gentleman Douglas Emhoff, husband of Vice President Kamala Harris. Their schedule is as follows:
Thursday, May 16:
- 2:00 PM: Arrival at Marquette Sawyer Regional Airport, Gwinn, Upper Peninsula.
- 3:00 PM: Remarks at a political event in Marquette.
- 6:00 PM: Arrival at Chippewa County International Airport in Kincheloe where they will participate in a community event with the Bay Mills Indian Community and the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians.
Friday, May 17:
- Noon: Community listening session about health care with Bay Mills Indian Community and the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians.
- 1:00 PM: Tour of the Soo Locks in Sault Ste. Marie, highlighting investments through President Biden’s Investing in America Agenda.
- 5:15 PM: Political event in Midland.
Saturday, May 18:
- 11:30 AM: Political event in Detroit.

The First Lady’s visit will culminate in Detroit before heading to New York. This marks her second visit to Michigan in less than a month, following her participation in the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Foundation’s annual First Ladies Luncheon in Grand Rapids on April 26.
Michigan has seen a flurry of activity from the Biden-Harris campaign. On March 1, Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson and community leaders launched the state’s Women for Biden-Harris group in Detroit. Vice President Kamala Harris has also been active in the state, promoting the administration’s support for small businesses and reproductive rights.
President Biden’s upcoming visit will feature a keynote address at the NAACP Detroit Branch’s 69th annual Fight for Freedom Fund Dinner on May 19. One of the region’s largest social gatherings, this event draws nearly 10,000 guests and features influential voices from civil rights, faith, and political spheres.
Jill Biden’s visit aims to galvanize Michigan voters around key issues such as affordable health care and to highlight the administration’s investments in local communities.
