SAGINAW, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Michigan State Police say two people have been arraigned on charges in the death of a Michigan State Police trooper who died in a crash earlier this year.
Court records show 32-year-old Brooke Lynette Allen and 81-year-old Duncan Armin Erving are facing a variety of charges. Trooper Joel Popp died after being struck by a car while conducting a traffic stop on I-75 in Saginaw County’s Birch Run on Jan. 24. He later died from his injuries at a hospital.

Allen is facing a charge of operating while intoxicated causing death which could land her in prison for 15 years. The judge set her bond at $25,000.
Erving was charged with failure to use due care while passing an emergency vehicle causing death. Like Allen’s charges, that is a felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
His bond was set at $10,000. Both are due back in court on May 15 for a hearing.
