WASHINGTON (Michigan News Source) – A GOP-led U.S. House committee is trying to get to the bottom of pro-Palestinian protests on college campuses nationwide. That’s why they are summoning the presidents of the University of Michigan, Yale University, and the University of California to testify in May about those demonstrations on their campuses.
Since the Israel-Hamas war started on October 7, the presidents of Columbia, Harvard, MIT and Penn have testified in front of the committee. Those testimonies triggered the resignations of the Penn and Harvard presidents just weeks after appearing before Congress.

House Education and Workforce Committee Chair Virginia Foxx (R-N.C.) said “College is not a park for playacting juveniles or a battleground for radical activists. Everyone affiliated with these universities will receive a healthy dose of reality: actions have consequences.”
More than a dozen members of Congress traveled to Columbia University in the last two weeks. It’s been the site of some of the highest-profile and most disruptive campus protests. In addition, the House is set to vote on legislation to empower the Department of Education to crack down on alleged antisemitism on campus.
