DEWITT, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – DeWitt Public Schools has cancelled its optional mini lesson on gender pronouns for first graders.
The story surfaced after Michigan News Source obtained a letter sent home to parents at Schavey Road Elementary stating the lesson would “share and explore pronouns” and discuss what to do if students make a mistake with pronouns.”

The district crafted this announcement on Facebook on Friday afternoon stating administrators agreed to cancel the mini lesson after they said staff members received “inappropriate, angry, and threatening phone calls, emails, and social media messages.”
According to its website, DeWitt Public Schools educates 3,200 students. The district is just north of Lansing.
