GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Political consultant John Yob, CEO of Grand Rapids’ Strategic National, and who is known for accurate polling in the 2016 elections, has suggested that recent murders allegedly committed by illegal immigrants in Michigan will likely bolster support for former President Donald Trump among Michiganders.
Yob was previously the national political director and chief Michigan strategist for Rand Paul’s 2016 presidential campaign. He also formerly worked on the campaigns of John McCain, Rick Santorum and Rick Snyder.

In a recently published memo, Yob acknowledges the challenging nature of the analysis given the circumstances but underscores its importance for understanding the political ramifications of current events.
Memo shows immigration will be important election issue in November.
Yob predicts that the issue of immigration, particularly highlighted by recent tragedies in the state, will significantly influence the 2024 election landscape, tilting the state further towards President Trump.
In his memo, Yob highlights the case of Ruby Garcia, a 25-year-old murdered in Grand Rapids, allegedly by Brandon Ortiz-Vite, an illegal alien from Mexico who had previously been deported under the Trump administration but reentered the country.
Murder of two women in Michigan highlight safety concerns for Grand Rapids community and the rest of the state.
Yob emphasizes that such incidents are garnering national attention and are likely to shape public opinion in the state. Similarly, Yob discusses the murder of Leah Gomez, another Michigan victim. Illegal immigrant Luis Bernal Sosa has been convicted of her murder and will be sentenced on April 17th.
These cases, coupled with broader concerns over immigration, are resonating with suburban families in Michigan, particularly those in West Michigan, who are feeling the impact of the open southern border.
Media reports in Michigan also reflect the growing number of illegal immigrants coming to the state using resources needed for Michiganders and American citizens including shelter, food and other accommodations.

Can Trump realign the voting landscape using the issue of immigration?
Reflecting on Trump’s electoral success in 2016, Yob emphasizes his ability to realign Michigan’s political landscape by appealing to working-class voters and union households.
Yob predicts that the immigration issue will not only impact the presidential race but also down-ballot contests, such as the U.S. Senate race in Michigan. He also highlights the competitiveness of the race between former Rep. Mike Rogers and Rep. Elissa Slotkin, indicating that immigration could become a pivotal issue for voters.
Current polling has Trump ahead of Biden.
In recent national polling coming out of The Hill website with a three-way race including independent candidate RFK Jr., Trump is leading with 42% of the voter, Biden comes in second at 40.7% and Kennedy gets 8.2%. In a Wall Street Journal survey released April 2nd, Trump is ahead of Biden in six of seven swing states, leading him in Michigan by three points.
