PONTIAC, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Prosecutors in Oakland County are seeking at least 10 years in prison for James and Jennifer Crumbley, the parents of the Oxford High School shooter when they are scheduled to be sentenced on Tuesday.
Separate juries convicted the Crumbley parents earlier this year of four counts of involuntary manslaughter in the November 2021 shooting. Jurors found both parents negligent for buying their son a gun days before the shooting and ignoring his mental health along with cries for help.

In recently filed court documents, Oakland County prosecutors asked for a sentence between 10 and 15 years. It is the fist time parents have been convicted in relationship to a school shooting. Victim impact statements are expected to be read at the sentencing.
Jennifer Crumbley has requested a tether and house arrest in her attorney’s guest home. James Crumbley, who knew he was being recorded, threatened Prosecutor Karen McDonald several times during phone conversations,
Their son, who is serving life in prison without the possibility of parole, killed four students and injured seven other people.
