WASHINGTON (Michigan News Source) – Because of the pandemic, the deadline to claim tax refunds for 2020 was pushed to May 17 of this year, but many Americans have not yet claimed their refunds. With more than $1 billion of dollars remaining unclaimed, the IRS is encouraging everyone to review their returns and make sure they aren’t missing out on refunds that are owed to them.
According to published reports, the median refund for 2020 averages at $932. Texas, California, Florida, and New York have the highest number of individuals potentially eligible for these refunds.
