LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Michigan’s state parks are getting a facelift, and the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) said the end results will be worth the wait.

A $250 million earmark from the American Rescue Plan Act is allowing many Michigan state parks, trails, and  outdoor spaces to receive some much-needed TLC. Those upgrades include new roads and parking lots, upgraded electrical and water systems, new accessible toilet buildings, new water jug fillers, and trail enhancements.

While some locations will temporarily close for improvements, most remain open for outdoor adventures. If a favorite park is undergoing renovations, the Michigan DNR encourages residents to try out a different spot and explore a new destination.
